Our goal is to never center ourselves within antiracism work but rather work as background support to recruit allies, broadcast information and education, and direct people to support and engage with local and National BIPOC activists and organizations.
We’re not attempting to be teachers, leaders, or educators on antiracism ourselves; our goal remains to direct locals to Black, Brown, and Indigenous folx who are willing to educate others via their first hand knowledge and unfortunate experiences of racism.
We will always be white and will make mistakes in our own antiracism journeys.
We are volunteers and not paid for our time. 100% of the donations we receive go to Signs of Justice, Speed Pro St. Petersburg, and Cultured Books (all Black owned businesses)
We have pop-up’s throughout each month, and we also offer delivery within St. Pete. Stay up-to-date on pop-up locations by checking out our calendar and Instagram page. You can also email us directly at hello@promoteantiracismstpete.org or DM us on Instagram @promoteantiracismstpete.
You can also find a small permanent collection of our books at Green Bench Brewing in their Webb’s City Cellar. You can read a book while enjoying great beer, wine, and cider from this local Black owned brewery. Books stay on site.
Yes! We offer them for free or donation for St. Pete locals, as well as delivery of signs and books, so that lack of access to funds or transportation is not an obstacle. We also offer challenges on Instagram with free giveaways of books, gift cards to local BIPOC businesses, and local Black Lives Matter shirts for winners.
We use donated funds to purchase signs that are designed and printed by Black businesses. We also collaborated with a local Indigenous Rights organization to print some styles for them. The majority of the books we offer have been donated directly to us, but we also use donated funds to purchase books by BIPOC authors from a local Black woman owned bookstore. You can donate new or used books to our library, antiracism signs, or monetary funds to help us continue our initiatives.
